Wendy Reynolds, soprano
Wendy Reynolds' career includes opera, oratorio, American standards and inspirational solos.
After her portrayal of Violetta in Verdi's La Traviata for Island Opera Theatre, Celebrate! Key West wrote, "I was privileged to hear Wendy Reynolds as she sang the role for the first time. Her performance didn't leave her gasping for air - it left me that way. I was literally on the edge of my seat watching a star being born during the death scene. Such passion. She didn't just own the part - she lived it!"
Ms. Reynolds earned both her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and her Master of Music in Theory and Composition from Texas Christian University where she studied with Tamas Ungar and Jose Feghali. Her subsequent vocal studies included work with Judith Natalucci and Dodi Protero in New York, as well as participation in the Renata Scotto Opera Academy at the Music Conservatory of Westchester where she worked with Ms. Scotto daily.
Her beginnings in Florida opera were with Palm Beach Opera where her performances included the title role of Lehár's The Merry Widow and Musetta in Puccini's La bohème. The Palm Beach Daily News has written, "Wendy Reynolds performed with great energy and personality and possesses a beautiful soprano voice, with excellent ringing tones and a lovely spin to the sound. She has a great future in the opera world."
Ms. Reynolds has appeared as soloist in concerts with orchestras including the Palm Beach Opera Orchestra and the Florida Philharmonic, and with major artists such as Ghena Dimitrova, Stuart Neill, and the legendary Peter Nero. A champion of new music, she has collaborated as soloist with well-known composers such as John Corigliano and Thomas Sleeper.
Her three-woman show, “Duelling Divas®: The Battle Begins!” has been described as “A smash hit!” by WPBF-TV News 25, “An inspired stand-out in operatic theatre!” by Ocala Magainze, and “Superb, dazzling, and sublime!” by Orlando Weekly. Duelling Divas® continues to delight Florida audiences while venturing farther afield, from the Midwest to New York to Key West.
